About Coaching
What is coaching?
Coaching is a supportive ongoing relationship that helps you bring about a desired change in your life. Your coach supports you by facilitating self-discovery and fostering the development of greater self-awareness. You and your coach work together to clarify goals, identify strengths and remove obstacles to create the future you envision for yourself.
What can a coach help me do?
· Improve focus and productivity at work
· Plan and implement a project
· Get organized
· Transition to a new career
· Launch a startup
How does coaching work?
Coaching is done by telephone for a set number of sessions each month. To truly create a lasting change in your life, a three-month commitment of at least two hours per month is recommended.
What is a typical session like?
Coaching is completely client-focused, so the client decides what topic will be discussed during each session. Your coach will ask you thought provoking questions and share observations, reflections and feedback to help you delve deeper into the topic in a supportive and caring environment.
Your coach will also provide planning tools and work with you to foster self-responsibility and accountability. It’s a lot like working with a personal trainer at the gym; except instead of focusing on physical fitness, you are focusing on shaping up a different area of your life.
What is the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy is a relationship that centers on understanding the pathology behind a specific behavior or pattern in the client’s life and healing the root cause. Therapy often focuses on exploring the past to find the origin of an issue and tries to heal that part of the client.
Coaching is a co-created relationship between the client and coach that centers on personal growth. In contrast to therapy, which often directs attention to the past, coaching focuses on the present and future; i.e., coaching seeks to understand what is happening in the present and how to make changes in the present to create a desired future.
